Introduction
The 8th International Workshop on Solid State Quantum Computing (IWSSQC) will be held at the National Taiwan University (Taipei, Taiwan) from 12-15 Dec., 2016, preceded with a two-day Quantum Information Science (QIS) Mini-School from 10-11 Dec., 2016.
The IWSSQC 2016 will focus on (but not limited to) the solid-state implementations for quantum information processing, including both theoretical and experimental attempts. Contributions on all other aspects of quantum information processing and quantum information science are welcome too. Continuing the effort of the previous workshops and mini-school in this series, the IWSSQC and the QIS Mini-school 2016 intend to bring together active researchers and to strengthen the interactions of knowledge in the field of solid-state quantum computing and quantum information science in general (for some information of the 2nd International Workshop that took place in Taipei in 2008, please see http://www.ncts.ncku.edu.tw/phys/qis/080625/).
The main objectives of the IWSSQC and QIS Mini-School 2016 are
1. to provide young researchers and graduate students with introductory lectures and updated research information on solid-state quantum computing and quantum information science in general,
2. to discuss the current trends and future directions of research in solid-state implementations for quantum computing and quantum information processing, and
3. to promote exchanges of scientific knowledge and enhance the interactions of scientists working in solid-state quantum computing and quantum information science
